SUMMARY:Music • Vinyl • Voices & Periphery Conspiracy Podcast with Bernardo Mesquita and Guests with his book: “Das Beiradas ao Beiradão. A música dos trabalhadores migrantes no Amazonas”
DESCRIPTION:Music • Vinyl • Voices & Periphery Conspiracy\nLive Podcast | Tropical Diaspora Records® [tdrgo.co/live]\nwith musician and professor Bernardo Mesquita based in Manaus\, Brazil the author of the book “From the Riverbanks to River Music. The Music of Migrant Workers in Amazonas” • “Das Beiradas ao Beiradão. A música dos trabalhadores migrantes no Amazonas”\n\nJoining Live with Bernardo we will have the local music legends Billy Marcelo and Hadail Mesquita who will perform live for us.\n/// en \nFor this edition of the Live Podcast we connect live from Berlin to the city of Manaus in the Amazon to talk and chat with musician and professor Bernardo Mesquita and his guests Billy Marcelo and Hadail Mesquita. Bernardo Mesquita is author of the book “Das Beiradas ao Beiradão . A música dos trabalhadores migrantes no Amazonas”. The Portuguese title of the book appears in the Podcast header: From the Riverbanks to River Music. The Music of Migrant Workers in Amazonas. \nMesquita’s book is an important contribution to our understanding of modern Amazonian popular music from the perspective of migrant musician-workers. \nTheir musical creative work reflects the destinies of the working class and the different moments of capitalist integration of the Amazon region\, from extractivism and industrialism to forms of flexible accumulation\, whose understanding cannot be separated from the cultural expression that arises around capitalist labor and exploitation. \nWe will have the opportunity not only to talk with Bernardo Mesquita but also to listen to Amazonian artists to be announced here in what will be a recreation of *“Musica de Quintal”\, a series of interviews and encounters with Amazonian musician-workers initiated by Mesquita as part of his research work. A work that resulted from ten years of research has just become a book. \n*The Música de Quintal project is back\, bringing news about the music of the riverbanks. The initiative is part of the academic project “The Formation of Amazonian Music (PID)”\, from the State University of Amazonas (UEA). Música de Quintal was the basis for the construction of the book “Das Beiradas ao Beiradão”\, released in 2022. The following year\, the work was released in eight cities in Brazil. \nLaunched in 2019\, the project records the trajectory of musicians\, valuing the memory and musical legacy of migrant workers from Amazonas. While the first edition of the project featured the participation of Chico Cajú\, Toinho do Sax\, and Oséias da Guitarra\, this second edition features shows by Fernando Amazonas\, Dedé Ribeiro\, Banda Amazonas\, and Moraes do Sax\, among others. \n/// pt-br \nMusic • Vinyl • Voices & Periphery Conspiracy\nLive Podcast | Tropical Diaspora Records® [tdrgo.co/live]\ncom o músico e professor Bernardo Mesquita baseado em Manaus\, Brasil\, autor do livro “From the Riverbanks to River Music. The Music of Migrant Workers in Amazonas” • “Das Beiradas ao Beiradão. O título em português do livro aparece no cabeçalho do Podcast: From the Riverbanks to River Music. The Music of Migrant Workers in Amazonas.
