\n\n\nNotas de Capa\n\n\nA Àrvore do Esquecimento e o Portão do Não Retorno \nTodos tinham fortes lá. \nO Disco TROPICAL DIASPORA #1 lembra.

SUMMARY:Official Release of Tropical Diaspora #1 in São Paulo with the Band Höröyá
DESCRIPTION:Tropical Diaspora® Records compilation volume 1 is available for pre-orders and will be released in a limited edition for vinyl and cassette. This record is featuring 9 independent bands from all over the world with a total of 10 tracks. The record is transparent and contain a  inner sleeve with the song lyrics plus a poster. This record is a powerful network of remembrances. It gives voice to the daughters and sons of the slave trade. It is testimony of how African slaves kept their cultures and history alive giving birth to one of the most amazing cultural experiments of humankind. \nThe Brazilian Official release will be the 21.11.19 in São Paulo at the The Höröyá concert featuring Zal Sissokho and his Kora directly from Senegal. \nFree show\, 20h at Itaú Cultural on 21/11 8 pm \n#senegal #horoya #kora\nThe Tree of Forgetfulness and the Door of No Return \nWe are very happy to announce our first compilation on vinyl coming out this autumn. The Volume 1 introduces many independent bands and artists with strong social messages and songs that make people think and dance. \nThis socially responsible dancefloor compilation starts with the words of Davi Kopenawa Yanomami\, the shaman and spokesperson of the Yanomami natives in today’s Brazil. His words are crucial to understand the challenges we are facing and how much we still have to learn from those people. It ends with a song dedicated to Bety Cariño\, a social activist from Oaxaca brutally murdered by the colonial powers and their hitmen. \nLike so many other things in the small universe of Tropical Diaspora® Records this compilation album is the result of travels and personal connections. In fact\, its meaning conveys just that: the creation of human relations based on love and care\, understanding\, respect and passionate discussions around the topics that move us. Djs Garrincha and Dr. Sócrates do exactly this with a case full of records traveling across the borders of Europe and the Americas. Dj Garrincha’s trips have taken him to meet artists and ignite relations that are meant to last. It can be Chicago\, São Paulo\, Medellin\, Berlin\, Barcelona\, Olinda or San Juan. We are committed to add new Diaspora cities into our web of places and people to care about. And this precisely describes how we experience displacement and diaspora communities. They help us not only to produce music but also to build our own identity as human beings and\, of course\, as record label too. We care about displacement and the communities that grow from it.

Since the beginning of my DJ career the focus of my sets is the creation a melting pot of all rhythms related to the Afro-Diaspora and all aspects connected to the tropical matter\, the result is a bump ‘n’ grind groove that the people can’t get enough of. In creating such a narrative we are however aware that the tools we use to communicate our idea and mission are shaped by the historical narrative of the imperialist powers; the hegemonic role that\, for example\, language play: French\, English and Portuguese in Africa; Spanish\, Portuguese and English in the Americas. We are even to blame for using English as lingua franca for our purposes. But\, is it silence a better option? We won’t be silent. We want to speak; we believe that we have the right to speak and will use whatever means we have at our disposal in order to open up a communicative interface that is respectful of the history and legacy of the communities whose experiences\, struggles and world views steadily groove like in a vinyl record our own work at Tropical Diaspora®. \n_\nOù?\nLe Pavillon des Canaux\n83 Boulevard Ornano\, 75018 Paris\nMetro : Riquet (l.7)\, Laumière (l.5)\n_\nCombien?\nENTRÉE GRATUITE

SUMMARY:Tropical Diaspora® Records at HKW Wassermusik: Black Atlantic Revisited
DESCRIPTION:Wassermusik: Black Atlantic Revisited • 2019\, Jul 05\, Fri — 2019\, Jul 27\, Sat \n\n\n \n\n\nTropical Diaspora® Records will be part of the Wassermusik Festival this year with focus on the Black Atlantic theme\, indeed and we at Tropical Diaspora® try to create a narrative\, musical and otherwise\, about the people that crossed the Atlantic from Africa to the “Americas” and gave rise to different cultural expressions that reflect both the horror and hope of that experience. \n\n\n \n\n\n———————————————————- \n\n\n \n\n\nFestival Description by HKW.\n\n\n \n\n\n“In 1993 Paul Gilroy’s book The Black Atlantic: Modernity and Double Consciousness was published. In it\, he examines how the history of the Black Atlantic diaspora defied art and knowledge to find new forms. Music is of particular importance in this context. In 2004 the Black Atlantic project grappling with Gilroy’s theories took place at HKW. Fifteen years later it’s time to take them up again. The focus of Wassermusik in 2019 – entitled Black Atlantic Revisited – is on the South Atlantic and its musical cultures. With concerts by Milton Nascimento\, Angelique Kidjo\, Gilberto Gil and many others\, a film program and the Wassermarkt.\n\n\n \n\n\nCurated by Detlef Diederichsen\n\n\n \n\n\nThe conference Echoes of the South Atlantic (July 10 and 11) in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut looks at the present-day situation of Atlantic relations between Africa\, the Americas and Europe.
